Good News:  The Island of Bonaire is now open to North American tourists and daily Miami flights have restarted.

We reserved 18 group air-seats for 4 and 11 Dec 2021 this time from Orlando (MCO) to Miami (MIA) to Bonaire (BON) and return.

Nature is the chief attraction of Bonaire. It is widely recognized as one of the world's best spots for snorkeling and scuba diving because of its clear waters and the fact that the reef is easily accessible from shore. A large portion of the island's land mass is a legally protected national park. Approximately 111 square miles in size and 50 miles off the coast of South America, Bonaire is essentially a coral reef rising above the water. Its northern part has some hills but is mostly desert like. The flat southern half barely rises above sea level. Bonaire has some famous beaches including one known for its world class windsurfing.

Bonaire prides itself on its reputation for world class snorkeling and scuba diving. The island has a fringing reef that extends out in places 200 feet before dropping off into the deep-blue Caribbean Sea. As a result, divers and snorkelers can often walk into the water from shore and find an environment rich in sea life. Most of the waters around the island are within the Bonaire Marine Park and are legally protected. There are 80+ designated dive sites within the park. Yellow painted stones with the name of the site mark their location along the coastal roads.

Bonaire is part of the Netherlands. As a result, residents of Bonaire enjoy the same rights as Dutch citizens living in Europe. The island's government is similar to other Dutch municipalities. Although Bonaire is part of the Netherlands, the official currency is not the Euro but rather the U.S. Dollar. This reflects the island's economic ties to the United States. US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa to visit Bonaire. A valid passport is required, and the expiration date should be at least 6 months beyond your stay.

Buddy Dive Resort is a full-service dive resort. Including: 73 apartments, more than 100 rental cars, two ocean-view restaurants and a bar area to enjoy the sunsets and company of your fellow SCSTC travelers. Their dive operation is a PADI 5-star Career Development Center with 6 dive boats, a large range of diving options, courses, kids’ programs and the largest technical diving facility of the Caribbean.

For this trip, your club has reserved 2-bedroom apartments with either an ocean or garden view. Each apartment has a compact kitchen, spacious living area with cable TV, a patio or balcony, air-conditioned bedrooms each with its own bathroom and shower.  On Bonaire the power plugs and sockets are of type A, B and F so you will need adapters for US cords. The standard voltage is 220 V.

Our SCSTC vacation includes one 4-passenger rental vehicle with each 2-bedroom apartment we book. You will need a valid drivers license, purchase their local rental insurance ($140 per week) and fill the fuel tank when you are done with the vehicle ($60 for a full tank). This rental program allows you to enjoy the wonders and incredible nature of this unspoiled island. These vehicles allow you to easily explore the designated shore dive and snorkel locations around the island.
