The Space Coast Ski & Travel Club had 55 participants from 5 states on this January FSC ski trip. We flew into Vancouver and enjoyed a beautifully scenic bus ride up to the resort. We were wowed by over 8000 acres of skiable terrain and a mountain village beyond compare. Our club gathered at Stonesedge restaurant on Sunday evening to enjoy a delicious dinner and chat about the wonderful skiing conditions that day. It was great to have some new folks traveling with us and they quickly found themselves among friends. Monday brought more great weather and skiing/snowboarding. Instead of a welcome dinner, the FSC hosted a dessert party in the lovely Whistler Conference Center. This gave folks a chance to discover some of Whistler’s renowned dining establishments before heading over for dessert and drinks.
Tuesday brought lots of the low clouds that British Columbia is known for but the Florida Cup Race went on! The sun came out at noon and we enjoyed a fantastic mountain lunch at the Glacier Mountain Lodge before skiing all afternoon. Many folks took Wednesday off to explore the shops, galleries and restaurants in the village. Some trippers tried the ZipTrek EcoTour adventure while others made a run on the Olympic bobsled run, with a professional driver of course! Thursday brought some rain down low and snow up on the mountains. We skied in our plastic bag coverings and made the best of it. At the Thursday night Winter Wonderland theme party, it was announced that our racers had won the Florida Cup race! The best SCSTC had ever done before was third place, so we were thrilled. And one of our couples won the award for Best-Dressed Couple. On Friday, we had snow all day and lots of fresh powder to end the week on a great note.
We hope everyone enjoyed the FSC week as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
