Snowmass ~ February 11th - 18th, 2017

Trip Leaders: Brice Crossley and Jeannie Staubus

On what was traditionally an annual ski trip for the ski club, Space Coast had a good showing with 47 including friends from North Carolina and Canada going on the 2017 edition to Aspen Snowmass. While our arrival was delayed about 2 hours at Vail Pass by winter weather, the storm also provided our group 9 inches of fresh snow to play in our first day of skiing.

At our Sunday welcome reception, conversations already shifted from the long day of travel to the wonders of the resort. After our second day of beautiful Colorado skiing, the group enjoyed an Alpine inspired dinner at the Edge restaurant. Several enjoyed dinner so much we returned again later in the week to an equally delicious meal. By mid-week our mostly Floridian group was enjoying clear blue skies with spring skiing conditions and comparing ski stories during ourhappy hour social.

One of the attractions to skiing Snowmass is the Power of Four: one ski pass for 4 mountain resorts. Several of us made day trips to neighboring resorts of Buttermilk, Aspen, and Aspen Highlands, but all agreed Snowmass was the best, especially with our ski-in/ski-out accommodations at the Top of the Village Condos. Following our pizza party on our final evening, it was time to bid farewell to friends new and old. We are looking forward to coming back to Snowmass soon.
