SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!! What a week of snow it was! We had two days of beautiful bluebird skies and then the remaining days of fresh powder. Steamboat has enjoyed an historic snowfall this year and our 56 Space Coast Ski & Travel Club members enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, tubing and relaxing in front of their cozy fireplaces watching the snow fall. It was a great week of fun, adventure, parties, and après ski gatherings. Our condos at Eagle Ridge Lodge were beautiful, very spacious and highly enjoyed by all. The hot tub and on call massage therapist were also a hit!
On Sunday we had a wonderful club dinner at 8th Street Steakhouse in downtown Steamboat. It was great fun to pick out and cook your own steak, chicken or fish and the food was mouthwatering! We have some pretty good chef’s in our group and it really was a blast! Along with the lovely meal we enjoyed getting to know each other amid much laughter, and of course the beverages were flowing. Monday night was the FSC Welcome Party at the Thunderhead Lodge at the top of the Steamboat Gondola. We enjoyed seeing the pretty moon over Steamboat Square from the gondola, and had an excellent Mexican buffet for dinner. Tuesday was “Tutu Tuesday,” crazy hat and boxer day and the mountain lunch, again at Thunderhead Lodge. The food provided by the Thunderhead was delicious, with your choice of chili and various toppings, along with corn bread, cookies offered, and once again, the beautiful views were enjoyed by all.
During the week there was plenty to do for skiers and non-skiers alike. The Morrison’s and Houlihan’s really enjoyed their tubing and snowmobiling experiences! Heather & Jim, Jori, Gail, Cindy, Karen, Dave & Denise all ventured out to snowshoe through the beautiful flocked trees. Kevin, along with daughter Jessica and son-in-law Scott also had a grand time snowmobiling. The “Burgett Party Crew” Angel, Stacey, John, Nuch, Mike, Nancy, Bob, Karen, Patrick, Veronica, John, Phil, Dianne and Greg (who did I miss?!) had a lovely late afternoon/sunset at Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Many other members including Linda and Jori, Tony and Judy also enjoyed the warmth of the hot springs. And did we mention the shopping?! Great boutiques in the town of Steamboat were just a short complimentary shuttle ride away and many of us took advantage. One jewelry store in particular loved the SCSTC members!
Thursday was the FSC “Wild, Wild West” Theme Party. A number of ladies, Kathy, Jeannie, Jori, Linda, Ellen and Debbie along with Tom descended upon F.M. Light and had a grand time picking out hats. It was such fun to see everyone dressed in their Wild West regalia that evening- we looked festive and represented well! Also at the FSC Party Tony Sever received the “most senior skier” race award, and along with his wife Judy, showed us how they remain forever young on the dance floor. You should see them dance!! Tony is an inspiration and we all hope we can be skiing at 87 years young! One of our newest members, Mike also received a Nastar platinum racing medal and did our club proud. Lots of members enjoyed the music, dancing and meeting the Steamboat Ambassador, Billy Kidd, the 1964 Olympic medal winner who was a very gracious host and stopped to chat and take pictures.
It was a wonderful week full of fun, skiing, making new friends, connecting with some old friends and enjoying the winter wonderland and playground offered at Steamboat Resort!
