The Space Coast Ski & Travel Club was well represented with 19 club members participating in the recent Florida Ski Council Cortina D’ Ampezzo Trip. Cal Staubus and Debbie Steininger were awesome Trip Leaders and did a fine job of planning and coordinating all the trip activities. Cortina is a charming resort town with a pedestrian walkway bordered by shops, bars, restaurants and businesses, many existing since they hosted their first Olympics in 1956. It was a fun-filled European ski/travel experience for all. There were excursions every day to different areas of Italy and Austria. The Tour Guides on these excursions were exceptional providing us with interesting and educational facts about the areas. Excursions included Venice, Bolzano/Iceman Museum, Conegliano with Wine Tasting, Innsbruck and Udine.
We lodged at the gorgeous 5 star Grand Savoia Hotel and were pampered by all their employees throughout our stay. They hosted a Happy Hour each evening for the FSC in their beautiful bar from 5-7 pm. The Italian breakfast and dinner buffets were remarkable and our club members all enjoyed eating together. The world-renowned Sella Ronda, Great War and Super Eight Ski Tours were well-attended and enjoyed by all who participated. The local ski areas of Tofana and Faloria were enjoyed by all. It was quite an experience to sightsee and ski the Dolomites!
Our group enjoyed a final night in Munich before catching our flight back to the US. Many of us took the train into town to enjoy a delicious dinner and some large beers at the Hofbrauhaus on St. Patrick’s Day. The airport Hilton was extremely nice and convenient for flying home the next morning. We traveled with a wonderful group of people which made for a great vacation! Good times and great memories were had by all!
