Trip Leader: Pam Kaercher
Thirty-six trippers from Space Coast Ski and Travel Club traveled to Beaver Creek for a week of unforgettable skiing, boarding, and socializing. Our week began by flying Southwest Airlines on a direct flight from Orlando into Denver, where we were transported to Beaver Creek on a privately-charted motor coach. After a stop to stock up on our provisional of groceries, we arrived at The Charter in Beaver Creek where we were met by their staff, FSC Board members, and representatives of Sports America who took care of greeting us and delivering our luggage and groceries to our condos. Meanwhile, most of the trippers that rented their equipment could pick it up at The Charter Sports, which was located in our building. Immediately following was the FSC Registration, where lift tickets were handed out and information about the weeks’ activities and information was provided.
The Charter is a ski-in/ski-out property with ski storage lockers located at the ground level. The week was filled with blue skies, corduroy runs and fresh snow. We had two excellent FSC parties, one Monday at the Hilton and the other on Thursday at 4 Eagle Ranch. The food was great, the staff were friendly, dancing and fun was had by all. We also had 3 Apres skis, The Dusty Boot which we partnered with Orlando Ski Club and Daytona Ski club, we made lots of new friends. The Black Diamond Bistro in The Charter and the Cbar at the base of the mountain. The views were spectacular and the food was delicious.
On Saturday we sadly loaded our bus back to Denver to catch our flight to Orlando. Many travelers commented that it was one of their most memorable and enjoyable trips they have taken with our club. This was not a surprise as Beaver Creek truly lived up to their tagline of......Not Exactly Roughing It!
