Our trip began with a 4 night stay at the historic and stunning Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, the “Castle in the Rockies”. After a day of exploring Banff or skiing/boarding, we all gathered for an Apres Ski Sunday night in the cozy Oak Room where local cuisine and drinks were enjoyed by all. A special treat was hotel staffer Rachel coming to give us a talk on the history of the hotel. Monday night was the FSC Welcome Party, Vintage Hollywood Theme in the beautiful Cascade Ballroom. Many of our travelers dressed up and our own Diane McConnell won best dressed with her great “Lucille Ball” costume. Tuesday was the fun race where our club was well represented with 5 skiers who raced, went under the limbo stick and threw bean bags all during the course. Skiers/boarders enjoyed Sunshine Village and Norquay ski resorts. Some of our travelers went on a dog sled ride, had spa treatments, experienced a formal “high tea” and an ice cave walk.
Wednesday we moved to Lake Louise Ski Area for our group luncheon and on to the elegant Chateau Lake Louise. The slopes of Lake Louise turned out to be a favorite for many and we skied/boarded in fresh powder the rest of the week. Thursday night was our Farewell party in the Mt. Temple Ballroom. During our time at Chateau Lake Louise activities enjoyed by some of our trippers were drinks at the ice bar, hiking Lake Louise to the waterfall, a Heritage tour, fondue dinner and a sleigh ride in the snow around the lake. This was a unique and memorable week and fun was had by all!
