Solden, Austria….Not well known but now Florida snow skiers do. It is huge and sits on top of two glaciers allowing skiers to ski well into Spring. For us, temperatures were mild and skiers had a great time venturing into new areas each day. Even a little fog did not slow them down. Everyone had a good time on the slopes experiencing a new resort in Europe.
The non-skiers had a wonderful time visiting Neuschwanstein (the Disney Castle), Innsbruck, Swarovski Crystal World and Linderhof Castle where King Ludwig lived. A highlight of the trip was 007 Elements. It is an installation on top the of the mountain exploring the world of James Bond. Scenes from the movie Spectre were filmed there and learning how they did that was quite interesting.
Our extension to Malta required a flight to this small country island in the Mediterranean Sea south of Sicily. The capital city, Valletta did not disappoint being a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its high concentration of historic monuments. Being there on St Patrick’s Day was a bonus as trippers turned into party animals in the streets with the boom-boom music and non-stop flowing beer. All the group had green bow ties or green 4-leaf clover halo’s to get into the spirit.
Fun experiences make a trip memorable. Seeing new sights, good food and a little alcohol (some more than others) make for a great time especially time when traveling with friends. This is what the club does best - new and old friends enjoying foreign countries together. Carry on!
