After arriving in Steamboat, we received nearly a foot of new snow in the first two days! Our attendees enjoyed great powder days on Sunday and Monday. Monday night was our Welcome Party in the Steamboat Grand ballroom, and we all had a blast trying our hands during Casino Night. The silent auction for the STARZ program was a huge success and over $1100 was raised for this charity. Bluebird skies and smooth groomed runs welcomed us on Tuesday and Wednesday. SCSTC had a lovely Apres Ski at Rye. We had the whole room to ourselves, and everyone enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and yummy appetizers and drinks.
Thursday night was the letter “P” party at the top of the gondola restaurant, and we had some very fun and creative costumes. Ozzie & Marilyn Webster won the “best couple” costume award for their adorable 'Peas in a Pod' outfits. Our race team did a great job. Amy Tidd was recognized for fastest in her age group, as well as fastest woman on the mountain. Tony Sever won for best time for a senior over 70.
On Friday there was 15” of new snow at the top of the mountain, and many of us enjoyed skiing/boarding through powder up to our thighs. The Steamboat Grand was a wonderful lodging facility with large condos, great restaurants, 2 large hot tubs and very convenient to the slopes. During the week our group enjoyed trips to the town of Steamboat, snowmobiling, and taking in the warm waters of Strawberry Park Hot Springs.
